Foster the People

Getting a fresh start to this beautiful day by straightening up the place, of course have to turn some tunes on to get things going.  Ran shuffle on my playlist for the last half hour or so, which resulted in some great progress, but when this one came on by Foster the People I got a little bounce in my step.

Now that the place is looking fabulous ~ well, almost...

What to do next??

Camping?  yes, please  :)

My neice Lola had her Christening and I couldn't resist taking photos of this pretty little lady.

She wore a beautiful little antique dress with a sweater and little cap

that my grandmother sewed for my sister for her Christening.

I love all of that sentimental stuff, and I love my sister and her family... they are wonderful.

He's Funny That Way

While sitting home on my day off,

 (unfortunately it's not a fun day off - i have felt better)

I can't help but listen to music, unavoidably thinking about where I am today, what I want to be doing tomorrow, and where I want to see myself a few years down the road. 

As always, it's a long, wondering path that I am enjoying the ride through - but it would be nice to get to where I want to be already.

Luckily, the wonderful Billie Holiday tuned in to take me away from the inevitably overwhelming thoughts of my chaotic life.  This song of hers just makes me smile and think about my love, Jim.

Autumn Days and Delicious Treats

I could not be happier with the Summer coming to an end and the arrival of Autumn.  

There is nothing better than getting my coffee, throwing on my slippers, a hoodie & possibly a scarf and heading out to the porch for a refreshing morning with my husband and dogs.

In the next few weeks we will be apple picking - can not wait for some delicious treats!

I do make a banging apple pie, but I can not take credit for the recipe... gotta thank mom!

This year I want to try out a few different types of apple recipes.

Everyone enjoys a different type of topping.

With this recipe, it's easy for you to cater to each of your guests with either the traditional lattice, a full crust with a pretty flower design cut out, or the crunchy crumb bits.

(My personal fav is the crumbly kind)

Natural Beauty

I can not help but to be inspired when surrounded by natural beauty.

While visiting Island Beach State Park, the salt air was whirling around in the breeze, the ocean had a strange calmness, the sand was dancing around my feet... I don't want to be anywhere else at this moment.

ahh, this time of year.. so pysched the weather is almost perfect, looking forward to beautiful sunny 73 degrees, with that perfect spring breeze.   ...but unfortunately we are stuck in that rainy inbetween winter and spring, also known as april.  as much as all this rains a bummer on my weekends, it sure pays off when you see the beautful leaf and flower buds making their appearance. 

Not too much longer until that sunny time of year.

....and its not a bad photo op' after a spring rain.

Rocky Hill Inn

If you are in the Princeton, NJ area, the Rocky Hill Inn is a fantastic choice
for lunch, dinner, or just a spot to get a couple drinks. 
The atmosphere is laid back, the service is very accommodating and always friendly. 

No matter what you choose on the menu, you will be more than satisfied. 

 

My personal favorite is the Griggstown Chicken.

Pineapple treat made by Maureen Waters

I had the pleasure of enjoying a taste test of some fantastic treats made by Maureen. 

The desserts in question consisting of pineapple cupcakes with a dried pineapple flower atop, blueberry cupcake with fresh blueberry mix, and a snickers cupcake - with topping TBA.
